The historical burgher house at the entrance to the main Loštice Square has been completely renovated and extended for a new purpose.
The museum is part of the production complex of A.W. spol. s r.o. – a traditional producer of Olomouc cheese called "tvarůžky".
The building itself was completely stripped down to its basic load-bearing structures, creating a continuous exhibition space. A courtyard annex was constructed to provide access and facilities, including a research room. The historic house has been sensitively reconstructed and restored to its original state, while the new entrance area and courtyard have been designed in a contemporary style. The exhibition was developed simultaneously with the construction project, meaning the building was tailor-made for the exhibition itself. This is not a standard exhibition setup inserted into the building, but a direct connection between the structural elements and the museum. The cellars and ground floor feature vaulted spaces, where the exhibition on the historical production of cheese is located. Hand-plastered finishes were applied using traditional techniques. On the upper floor, the exhibition presents the period from the transition of the manufactory of Alois Wessels (A.W. spol. s r.o.) to the factory of Karel Pivný, up to the present production. The heights of the floors have been unified within the spaces. The building has been adapted for barrier-free use with the addition of a new elevator. The exhibition route leads to the company shop.
