A glass cuboid with dreamlike motifs.
The Sts Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology of Palacký University in Olomouc is located in the building of the former Jesuit seminary of St. Francis Xavier from the 18th century, which is a national cultural monument. The exterior character of the building remains unchanged. The project involves interior alterations only. We cleared the vaulted spaces of secondary partitions, added stone paving, and designed a new panoramic reception desk enclosure.
It is a glazed cuboid levitating 60 cm above the entrance floor, with glass panels printed according to a design by artist Lada Semecká. The double thermal‑insulated glass ensures a comfortable temperature for the reception staff and features a spatial, dreamlike cloud structure based on the artist’s concept.
The new side doors follow the design of the surrounding doors from the 1990s, the handle was added in harmony with the main brass straircase handles, and the steps were recycled from the counter of the former reception desk.
